J.J Ament is a fifth generation Coloradan who for 10 years has worked in the private sector as a financial advisor and investment banker to state treasurers and other government CFOs from all over the U.S.

“J. J. Ament would be the first State Treasurer in over 40 years to come to the job from a professional background in finance and banking,” said a statement from Ament’s campaign. “He is also the only candidate in the Republican primary who opposes increasing taxes to balance the state budget.”

In the State Treasurer’s race we have J.J. Ament and Walker Stapleton. Both candidates seem to have similar financial business experience, with Ament gaining the edge in having experience working with the State as a client, to finance higher-education capital construction projects. While Stapleton is a newcomer to the state, he has family roots here. Ament is a native of the state.

My choice is J.J. Ament in this race.

For what it’s worth, I’ll be casting my ballot in the Republican primary for Colorado State Treasurer for J.J. Ament.

I simply can’t get over Walker Stapleton’s saying he’s not against tax and spending increases. That’s really all I need to know…

Also, a couple of friends of mine who have had dealings with J.J. Ament have good things to say about him.

JJ Ament walked away with a resounding victory over Ali Hasan a the state GOP Convention. Hasan did not have sufficient time to petition onto the ballot after failing to garner the necessary 30% of the delegate vote. Walker Stapleton, however, took the petition road early, and skipped the convention to ensure that he did not fail to garner the mandatory 10% of the delegate vote needed to petition on after a convention loss.
